Farm Journal, in publication since 1877, has grown beyond a print journal to a 21st century intelligence hub that maps the present and future of farming, food, technology, and sustainability through the lens of 23 brands committed to every major segment of agriculture and food. In 2024 they hired SixTwentyOne to bring this vision and brand to their new headquarters in the Crossroads neighborhood of downtown Kansas City. Farm Journal’s new office bridges their humble origins as a farmer-focused publication and the sophistication of today’s current data-centric landscape that helps farmers, ranchers, and producers face a complex blend of converging forces.
The 7,000 sf interior renovation is bathed in natural light from large existing skylights. A large “wow” multi-purpose space for conferencing, training, and closing deals features a large multi-screen video conferencing equipment, showcases a beautiful stained-glass mural from Farm Journal’s original headquarters, and “crops” grown in custom built planters. The large open office is used for hoteling stations for local employees or for any of their additional hundreds of employees that visit the headquarters throughout the year. The office also includes a large conference room, a full recording/production studio for their Farm Journal TV programming as well as a podcast studio.
